As a Data Services and business analyst, you are part of the Data team within our Geneva based entity in charge of the Strategic Suppliers relations. You will be responsible of and accountable for all the stages of the data management activity (collection, cleaning, processes/ tools management, BI reporting…) and ensuring the delivery of various business analytics, to internal and external customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Services:
You are responsible and accountable for the integrity of the current data management activities within our entity. The data management activities englobe the full data life cycle of our entity :
1. Collection: you are responsible for collecting the various data (commercial, financial, market…) from various stakeholders (external, internal, Operations, Group…). This stage includes the proper management, update and optimization of reporting tools/ processes (Excel, Power Query, BI reports…). It is also key to build and maintain strong and trustful relationship with the above mentioned stakeholders;
2. Processing/ storage: once collected, the data should be properly stored in the data bases or systems;
3. Quality: acting as a business owner, you will regularly monitor the quality of the data and take the necessary mitigation actions whenever needed (engage with technical teams, domain owners, operations, finance…), to make sure final users always have access to reliable data;
4. Master Data Management: the role requires the proper management of several Master Data, including, but not limited to, the Vendor Tree (hierarchy of Local to Global Suppliers through Vendor Tree and IIMET), the Product hierarchy (Sonepar Product Family to ETIM)…
5. Data base management: in close collaboration with the third-party services providers, you oversee the local data base: follow up the evolutions of the platform, ensure the integrity of the data stored…
Business and Commercial Analysis
You will be a key partner of the Business/ commercial team. You shall be able to understand the real business behind the numbers, and summarize the data into meaningful and added-value information, by providing regular right-time analysis (such as Sales, Purchases, Products, Customers, Vendors, Channels, Markets, Competition…), intelligence and insights to support our global business performance and improve the Supplier management. Supported by strong BI skills, you will help the data consumers to have an easy and self-service access to the analytics through visualization tools and other reporting. As PowerPoint is essential for C‑Level communication, you will be responsible for producing clear and impactful executive summaries in this format.
Key responsibilities:
6. Understanding the customer needs by providing the right data, in the right format at the right time;
7. Ability to translate data into actionable insights to drive strategic decision-making;
8. Identify opportunities, blind spots and propose relevant orientations/strategies for growth and development;
9. Deliver regular analysis to support the company needs (executive summaries, monthly meetings…);
10. Be in close contact with the business team to gather and clearly define their needs and business requirements;
11. You are confident with business/ operational language and vocabulary, so your analysis are a combination of visualisations, KPIs and business insights;
12. You should be able to cross different data sources (both internal and external, including open sources intelligence) to maximize the insights;
13. Closely support the Finance team for the yearly closing and budgeting activities (alignments, budget, forecast…);
14. Support the Strategic Planning team with ad-hoc requests (market, Strategic Suppliers…);
15. Ensuring the data is properly displayed in the Supplier Portal, managing all the steps and processes between the various stakeholders;
16. Your customers will be both internal (Business, Operations, Strategy, C-Levels…) and external.
Project Management:
Acting as a business owner in terms of data, you will be a key contributor and contact to the Global Data Experience team, in terms of new projects definition, follow up, validation, as aligned with the company needs and requirements (including internal /external customers’ requirements).
Potential side projects:
17. Data monetization: you might be involved in the data monetization strategy to external customers;
18. Planning and forecasting revenues: you will help improving the accuracy of forecasting by providing ad-hoc analysis;
19. Digitalization: as a business expert, you will be involved in the digital transformation of the Group, on various topics (data platforms, MDM, BI, Supplier Portal…);
20. Master Data Management: as part of our digital transformation, we are upgrading our tools and processes (e.g global MDM…), and you will be a key stakeholder of this process (segmentation, classification…);
21. Surveys: you might support the market and customers Survey team, for ad-hoc requests and/or analytics.
Your involvement in all these tasks will be dependent on the priorities and Group’s strategic direction.
PROFILE, skills & experience
22. Expected time allocation: 20% data collection, 60% Analysis and BI, 20% side projects;
23. Intermediate-level SQL skills to run queries to extract, transform, and manipulate data;
24. Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric;
25. Advanced user of BI tools (Power BI a plus), and data transformation/ process automation tools (Power Query a plus)…;
26. Advanced user of Excel (pivot, macro/ VBA a plus) and PowerPoint;
27. Proven track in delivering impactful visuals in PowerPoint and PowerBI
28. Confidence in public speaking, to present your analysis in front of an audience;
29. Strong summary, synthesis and analytics skills;
30. Proficiency in English required (oral & written); French or any additional language is an asset;
31. Minimum 3 years professional experience in data management, analysis and reporting;
32. Previous experience and knowledge of B2B/ wholesale/ retail/ electrical distribution markets are an advantage;
33. Any knowledge of other advanced tools and languages (Python, AI prompting…) will be appreciated;
