OBJECTIVE AND MAIN TASK OF THE FUNCTION
Manages all IT activities for STAAR Surgical AG which includes our Swiss and International users (non-US). Ensures IT infrastructure and systems are operating optimally. Plans for necessary upgrades, patches, and new systems. Stays informed on current and new technologies to support the company. Provides hands on technical support and system administration. Manages IT staff at the Swiss facilities by establishing goals and objectives, providing job related training, maintaining a safe and secure work environment, and developing personal growth opportunities.
Maintains and implements policies, procedures, and systems to comply with applicable regulations and standards and to support the company’s needs. This includes, but is not limited to, medical device manufacturer regulations, financial regulations, data privacy laws, cyber security, and business continuity.
Drives the prioritization and completion of IT projects from planning to implementation. Sets timelines and milestones for the projects. Stays within the project timelines and budgets. Aligns IT objectives and priorities with Corporate IT.
TASKS
•Manage and support IT infrastructure, systems, services, staff, and vendors of STAAR Surgical AG which includes Swiss and International users (non-US, non Japan, non China).
•Ensure IT infrastructure and systems operate optimally with minimal downtime and unplanned outages.
•Determine and implement training needs for back office systems such as O365, Adobe, etc..
•Maintain infrastructure and systems through planned upgrades and patches.
•Perform validations for infrastructure and systems as applicable.
•Establish IT levels of support and manage customer support with internal and external resources.
•Oversee end user support for enterprise application such as, but not limited to, ERP, MES and Document management systems.
•Stays informed on current and new technologies to support the company and to propose new technologies for improving security, reducing costs, increasing system performance, reducing compliance risks, maintaining compliance, etc.
•Provide hands on technical support and system administration including non-business hours as needed for weekend and 2nd shift production.
•Manage IT related contracts, licenses, and vendors.
•Establish an IT budget for STAAR AG and manage expenses to stay within the approved budget.
•Manage IT staff by establishing goals and objectives, providing job related training, maintaining a safe and secure work environment, and developing personal growth opportunities.
•Partnership with business functional leaders and be the liaison between departments IT.
•Ensure IT systems, controls, policies and procedures are in place and effective to comply with applicable regulations and standards (i.e., EU GDPR, ISO, FDA, Sarbanes-Oxley, IEEE, etc.).
•Review and update IT policies and procedures to comply with applicable regulations and standards.
•Drives the prioritization and completion of IT projects from planning to implementation by establishing the projects' scope, defining roles and responsibilities, working with cross functional teams, setting timelines
and milestones, working with external vendors, establishing budgets for the projects, and staying within the project timelines and budgets.
•Effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously utilizing software tools and project management methodologies.
•Support global IT projects including validation and system support for the company's online application (OCOS/STELLA), ERP, and related systems.
•Align IT objectives and priorities with Corporate IT.
•Other projects, duties, and responsibilities as assigned by the Global Director of IT or the VP Swiss Operations.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
Education: Degree in IT
Special Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills especially in English and German.
Advanced knowledge Windows Operating Systems and Windows based desktop and server applications (i.e., MS Office, Azure, O365, DNS, Hyper-V, VMWare, SQL Server, etc.)
Working knowledge of UNIX or Linux operating system is preferred
Technical knowledge support ERP systems (i.e. Oracle, SAP)
Expert proficient in computer related hardware required for troubleshooting problems with desktops, laptops, printers, networking equipment, and other related systems.
Proficient experience with warehouse and manufacturing technologies such as printers, RF Guns, IOT,
Project Management experience in implementing hardware and software systems
Work experience in a regulated 24x7 manufacturing environment is preferred
Personality: Organized, structured, and pays attention to details.
Strives for a high service level for internal and external customers
Willing to work before and after normal business hours and weekends as needed
