Company Overview
Our client is a well-established European energy trading company headquartered in Geneva, with an expanding presence across continental power markets. Known for its entrepreneurial spirit, cutting-edge infrastructure, and strong market access, the firm is looking to grow its power trading desk with the addition of an experienced Power Trader. This is a unique opportunity to work at the core of European energy markets, with access to both physical and proprietary trading strategies.
Key Responsibilities
* Trade European power markets across multiple timeframes (Day-Ahead, Intraday, and Front Month)
* Develop and execute directional, spread, and arbitrage strategies across CWE, Alpine, and Nordic regions
* Monitor fundamental and market drivers such as demand/supply balances, grid constraints, renewables output, and weather
* Collaborate with quantitative analysts, meteorologists, and data scientists to build and refine trading models
* Work closely with the risk management team to ensure robust PnL and exposure tracking
* Support the development of automated trading strategies or tools where relevant
* Stay abreast of regulatory developments impacting the Swiss and EU energy markets
Candidate Profile
* 3–7 years of proven success in a power trading role (utility, trading house, or IPP)
* Solid understanding of European power markets (Swiss, German, French, or broader CWE focus)
* Demonstrated track record of strong PnL contribution with clear trading rationale
* Familiarity with trading platforms such as EPEX, Nord Pool, or JAO
* Strong analytical and numerical skills; Python or similar coding experience is an advantage
* Team player with the ability to operate independently and make quick decisions under pressure
* Fluent in English; French or German is a plus
* EU citizenship or valid Swiss work permit preferred
