Position Summary
We are looking for an Electrical & Automation Technician to support the Nestlé Research Lausanne Pilot Plant and laboratories by ensuring technical soundness, safety, and compliance in electrical systems, process instrumentation, automation, and calibration. The role contributes to instrumentation maintenance and calibration programs, provides first‑level diagnostics, and supports projects, technology upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives. The technician works closely with pilot plant, laboratory, engineering, quality, and safety teams to ensure reliable operations aligned with Nestlé Corporate Engineering, Safety, Quality, and Food Safety standards. Leveraging digital tools and data analytics, the technician also supports accurate equipment data management and continuously improves tools, procedures, and databases within a dynamic R&D environment.
A Day in the Life of an Electrical & Automation Technician
* Monitor pilot plant instrumentation to ensure optimal performance and reduce planned and unplanned downtime
* Execute instrument maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and on‑call support activities
* Coordinate with Pilot Plant, laboratory users, QA, Engineering, and Safety teams to resolve E&A issues
* Perform first‑level E&A diagnostics and determine internal repair or external service solutions
* Maintain and apply calibration SOPs, technical documentation, and corporate engineering standards
* Produce data analytics reports and communicate insights using digital tools and dashboards
* Support automation projects, commissioning activities, and the introduction of new technologies
* Apply strict safety, food safety, and quality standards with zero tolerance for unsafe situations
Qualifications
* Electrical and/or automation technician diploma or equivalent qualification
* Minimum three years’ experience in instrumentation, automation, or E&A within an R&D or industrial environment
* Strong expertise in process instrumentation, calibration, process control, and loop tuning
* Working knowledge of PLC/HMI programming, electrical safety, and maintenance practices
* Experience in food processing technologies, hygienic engineering, and food safety environments is an advantage
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills with a continuous improvement mindset
* Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams
* Fluent in English and French, both spoken and written
