Cancer is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity globally. Radiation therapy is used in more than 50% of patients treated for cancer.
Head and Neck Radiotherapy Dose Painting Opportunity
Scientific Context
Anatomical complexity and physiological functions associated with organs at risk (OAR) make radiation therapy particularly challenging in head and neck tumors.
1. To explore the potential of mpq-MRI for dose calculation accounting for the spatial biology of the tumor.
2. To perform CT/MRI registration and propagate contours on the CT in order to perform new treatment plans with photons using volumetric modulated arc therapy technique (VMAT).
3. To evaluate the accuracy of dose calculation on MRI images against dose calculation on planning CT.
