As part of Leonardo, Kopter currently develops the AW09, a next-generation single-engine helicopter that offers the largest cabin and cargo hold in its category, increased modularity, and modern electronic systems. The AW09 delivers the latest safety standards, as well as more performance and comfort at low operating costs.
Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies, contributing to the development of hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based in Switzerland, near Zurich and in Mollis (Canton of Glarus).
The aim of this position is to manage all Engineering Flight Physics activities related to the domains of Aerodynamic, Loads, Dynamics, Performance, Flight Mechanics, Noise, and Weight & Balance of Helicopters.
Responsibilities :
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship across the multi-disciplinary team to support the development of Rotors, Transmission, Airframe Structures, Airframe systems, and Avionics.
* Develop and perform overall technical planning and provide airworthiness verification support.
* Work closely with engineering leadership (Heads of Departments) and other subject matter experts for the review and approval of engineering design solutions.
Coordinate :
* Flight physics in-house models / tools development, in addition to standard tools (Camarad, FlightLab, Nastran, etc.) for simulating physical phenomena specific to aircraft.
* Model validation process in line with CS27 requirements.
* Aircraft level flight physics specifications / technical data activity.
* Compliance demonstration (Type Certification) documents.
* Facilitate the continuous improvement of a rapid-turn design-to-specification process.
Minimum qualifications include a university degree in Aerospace Engineering, proficient knowledge in rotorcraft flight physics domains (minimum 10 years), CS 27 / 29 standards, aircraft and component flight and ground tests, aircraft qualification and certification (preferably in the civil domain), and in-service aircraft experience. Additionally, candidates should have at least 3 years of leadership experience.
