Every developer is given a high level of ownership to support learning and fully own the products they build.Software Development Engineer III - Scalable Systems & Data EngineeringIn this role, you will:Collaborate with diverse engineering teams, product stakeholders, and machine learning engineers to understand business requirements and dependenciesShape new product features, break down implementation work, and help prioritize development tasksDesign and build robust, scalable, and efficient medium-sized backend solutionsMaintain and enhance existing applications, APIs, and data pipelinesContinuously build expertise in new technologies and share knowledge with the teamHelp the team progress, identify risks, and simplify complex challengesMinimum Experience and Qualifications:Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience—including non-traditional or self-taught backgrounds5+ years of experience in application developmentStrong understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and design patternsProficient in backend/API development using Java Spring Boot, Node.js, and TypeScriptSkilled in working with relational databasesHands-on experience with Docker and KubernetesFamiliarity with several Amazon Web Services (AWS) offeringsPreferred Qualifications:Experience building data pipelines using big data technologies such as Apache SparkExperience with web development and familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as React is a plus#LI-BA1Expedia Group is proud to offer a wide range of benefits to support employees and their families, including medical/dental/vision, paid time off, and an Employee Assistance Program.
