The opportunity
We are looking for a research scientist with expertise in modelling and simulation of complex physical phenomena to join our Research Center in Baden, Switzerland. In an interdisciplinary environment, you will drive cutting‑edge innovation and develop new solutions to improve the performance and reliability of power grid devices such as transformers, circuit breakers and power semiconductors, helping to advance a sustainable energy future.
How You’ll Make An Impact
* You innovate: Drive the translation of innovative ideas into new power grid device features through physical modelling, scientific programming and advanced data analysis.
* You investigate: Elaborate and implement new models to enhance the understanding of physical phenomena such as electromagnetics, fluid dynamics, mechanics and nonlinear material behaviour.
* You take initiative: Collaborate with a global and interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers across research and business units to identify, shape and solve impactful industrial challenges.
* You collaborate: Build relationships within the company and actively share your knowledge and expertise; interact with local and global external partners including universities and vendors.
* You communicate: Disseminate your results in scientific publications, patent applications and technical reports.
Your background
* PhD in physics with a strong theoretical background or in applied mathematics.
* Proven expertise in collaborative software development, visualisation and working with large code bases.
* Practical experience with simulation software and tools for engineering problems.
* Proven track record at top scientific conferences and journal publications.
* Excellent communication skills in English, a team‑player attitude, initiative and creativity.
