We are looking for a Specialist Quantitative Microbiologist to support the microbiologically safe design of products and processes through data analytics. You will perform microbiological food safety evaluations in response to technical assistance requests from R&D and operations.
A Day in the Life of a Specialist Quantitative Microbiologist:
* Work with a team of microbiologists to help create a strategy to build, maintain, and expand the use of data to support microbiological risk assessment
* Collect, verify and analyze data related to microbial dynamics (e.g., growth, inactivation, and survival)
* Perform and communicate data visualization and predictive models for microbiology R&D projects
* Help design and analyze studies, using a range of statistical methods and software
* Collaborate with bioinformaticians and statisticians to model data trends
* Write scientific publications
* Coordinate with 3rd party microbiology laboratories
What will make you successful:
* PhD degree in Food Science/Microbiology/Biology with specific expertise in mathematics or PhD degree in Mathematics
* Expertise in food safety microbiology
* Relevant experience in a food science company, academia, or research center is preferred
* Experience in microbial data analytics including statistical and probabilistic approaches, data visualization and modeling, and the use of programming languages (e.g., R, Python)
* Experience in quantitative microbial risk assessment
* Evidence of communication - both verbal and in writing - of complex scientific information to specialist and non-specialist audiences
* Team player with a can-do attitude
* High level of motivation and adaptability
* Able to speak English fluently
