Postdoctoral Fellow in catalytic biomass valorization
To transform the current energy system into a sustainable one, new catalytic processes for converting biomass into chemical energy carriers, platform chemicals, or high-value chemicals are being developed. We are looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to contribute to these efforts.
Responsibilities
* Conduct innovative research in biomass-related catalysis, developing new catalysts, safeguard materials, and reaction systems to convert biomass thermochemically.
* Acquire third‑party funded projects within biomass conversion, catalysis, and biochemicals.
* Perform physico‑chemical analyses of catalysts and solid samples (N2 adsorption, XRD, EM, TGA, XAS).
* Initiate collaborations with other groups inside and outside PSI.
* Publish in scientific journals and present at international conferences and workshops.
Qualifications
* PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Technical Chemistry, Process Engineering, or a related field.
* Excellent writing skills and fluent spoken English.
* Self‑organized, focused working attitude.
* Proven experience safely operating and troubleshooting lab test rigs under elevated pressure and temperature (mandatory).
