Team Lead - IP Network Engineering - Bern
Our client, a local Bernese institution, is hiring a Team Lead for a section of their Network Engineering department.
Your responsibilities
Take overall ownership of the IP networking function, including direct leadership of a small team of Network Engineers. You'll act as their primary escalation point while fostering a collaborative and engaged team environment.
Set the technical vision for the team and ensure high standards across all deliverables. This includes shaping workflows, validating solutions against requirements, and driving continuous improvement through new ideas and technologies.
Oversee the stability and performance of a large-scale, globally distributed network environment. You'll proactively detect and resolve issues across a multi-node infrastructure and support international customers, including mobile network operators.
Manage the full lifecycle of networking assets such as hardware, software platforms, and customer connections. This covers upgrade planning, rollout execution, and long-term capacity forecasting to keep the infrastructure scalable and current.
Serve as the primary interface with vendors and technology partners, leading joint initiatives and coordinating the delivery of technical projects.
Design and maintain a reliable support model for the IP organization, including on-call coverage. This ensures fast, effective handling of incidents and requests while maintaining high availability and service quality.
Your background
Proven experience guiding and developing teams, with a leadership style that encourages growth, accountability, and motivation.
Strong organizational and planning capabilities, allowing you to manage workloads, timelines, and priorities effectively.
A background in networking, telecommunications, or IP-based environments, either through hands-on technical experience or leadership roles in these domains.
A methodical and solution-oriented mindset, with enthusiasm for tackling complex technical or operational challenges in creative ways.
A proactive, dependable personality with the energy to lead by example and positively influence those around you.
Comfort working in an international setting, collaborating successfully with stakeholders and customers from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
Clear and confident communication skills, enabling you to bridge the gap between technical teams and non-technical audiences.
A degree in IT, engineering, business, or project management (Bachelor's, Master's, or equivalent) is beneficial but not mandatory.
Familiarity with IP networking technologies such as routers, switches, firewalls, and related infrastructure — along with a willingness to continuously deepen your technical knowledge.
