Role Overview
UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) Division in Rome supports UNICEF globally by generating private sector income, influencing, and building brand recognition. The Private Sector Communication and Engagement Section seeks a communication specialist to provide media and emergency support to National Committees and country offices.
This position works under the Chief, Private Sector Communication and Engagement, acting as a liaison between National Committees, UNICEF Country Offices, Regional Offices, Division of Global Communication and Advocacy (DGCA) and the Office of Emergency Programmes (EMOPS) on media and emergency‑related communication.

Minimum Requirements
* Advanced university degree in Communications, Public Relations, Media or a related technical field; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with at least two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted.
* Minimum five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in external communication.
* Background and familiarity with strategic communication during high‑profile emergencies.
* Familiarity with Data Asset Management Systems (WeShare) and UNICEF internal systems for uploading, managing, and sharing up‑to‑date materials with private sector stakeholders.
* Experience producing and coordinating sensitive media materials such as key messages, talking points, press releases and briefings.
* Experience handling media requests and providing media outreach guidance and liaison functions for Country Offices and National Committees.
* Ability to engage strategically with various stakeholders (regional offices, country offices, National Committees, PFP income streams, DGCA and EMOPS) to ensure smooth coordination and timely dissemination of emergency‑related communication and fundraising materials.
* Proven writing, rewriting, research, and text editing skills, especially for different audiences.
* Ability to handle multiple assignments with competing deadlines.
* Fluency in English.
Desirable
* Knowledge of an additional official UN language such as Arabic, Chinese or Russian, or preferably French or Spanish, or a local language.
* Experience working in or supporting UNICEF offices in emergency or humanitarian settings, including conflict, disease outbreaks or natural disasters.
* Country office experience, particularly in emergency settings.
* Relevant experience at country level in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
