Main responsibilities:
The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in the financial management of World Aquatics, supporting multi-entry operations across different jurisdictions and currencies. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance (particularly in Switzerland and internationally), supporting audits, and contributing to financial reporting. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to details and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting
• Supervise, prepare and verify financial records, including journal entries and general ledger accounts and reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with Swiss GAAP, IFRS and internal accounting policies and procedures.
• Investigate and resolve complex accounting issues.
• Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing, meeting all internal deadlines.
Cash and Banking
• Prepare and transmit payment journal entries for approval and execution.
• Manage daily banking operations and maintain strong relationships with banking partners.
• Prepare short and medium-term cash flow forecasts for planning and control.
Tax Compliance
• Prepare and file quarterly Swiss VAT statements and returns.
• Monitor and follow up on foreign VAT cashback claims
• Prepare withholding tax reimbursement documentation.
• Work closely and coordinate with external tax advisors to manage tax obligations in Switzerland and other foreign entities.
Financial Reporting and Auditing
• Collaborate with the Finance Controller on the preparation of quarterly financial reports.
• Prepare accurate financial statements for multiple entries under varying legal statuses.
• Assist auditors during interim and year-end audits, ensuring compliance and accuracy of audit materials.
Other Responsibilities
• Present financial information to internal management, board members, and external stakeholders when required.
• Respond promptly to internal and external financial information requests.
• Represent the Finance Department during events, ensuring on-site financial compliance and support.
Profile required
Education, Language and IT Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or a related field (CPA, ACCA or Swiss equivalent preferred
• Proficiency with financial systems (ERP preferred) – Business Central an asset.
• Prior experience in a fiduciary, international organizations, sports governing bodies, or event-driven environments is a strong asset.
• Fluent (both written and oral) in English. Good knowledge of French a must. Hungarian is an asset.
Experience and skills:
• Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Swiss VAT and international tax compliance.
• Demonstrated experience in multi-entry and multi-currency accounting.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• High attention to detail, integrity and a commitment to transparency.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural, and multilingual environment.
• A proactive, solution-oriented approach to addressing challenges.
