Automation Service Sales Engineer (80-100%)
Join ABB as an Automation Service Sales Engineer (80‑100%) and help industries achieve leaner, cleaner operations. In this role you will be responsible for the sales of service business (installed base) within the Energy Industries division in Switzerland, meeting qualitative and quantitative targets to drive sustainable growth, profitability, market share, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
* Customer Engagement – Build and maintain solid customer relationships, ensuring a positive experience and providing technical support during sales interactions. Establish and strengthen relationships for expanding our service offering at existing customer sites in process automation.
* Sales Execution – Enhance sales through strategic initiatives, value‑based selling, target setting, and active participation in contract negotiations. Collaborate with extended sales teams to unlock new market opportunities.
* Bid Management – Prepare competitive bids and proposals, addressing technical, financial, and project aspects while identifying risks and ensuring accurate documentation.
* Process & Compliance – Ensure compliance with internal guidelines, efficient use of tools, accurate forecasting, and support administrative and reporting processes. Maintain data on sales activities and project pipeline in the ABB CRM system (Salesforce).
Qualifications
* Vocational training/diploma in electrical engineering (electrician/automation specialist) or a university degree in electrical engineering, with 5‑10 years of experience in sales, business development, or account management.
* Knowledge of industrial automation in sectors such as power generation, chemical‑pharmaceutical, waste‑to‑energy plants, or water and wastewater management.
* Digitally savvy – able to sell our digital product portfolio to installed‑base clients.
* Strong team‑oriented, solution‑oriented approach with proficient written and oral communication skills in German and English; French is an advantage.
* Effective interpersonal skills, ability to analyze customer needs and tailor solutions, open, customer‑ and goal‑oriented, structured and methodical work style, and teamwork capability.
* Excellent knowledge of ERP and CRM software as well as Microsoft Office; experience offering digital solutions and in‑depth knowledge of the electrical installer market and interest in building automation.
* Valid Swiss category B driver's licence and Swiss work permit.
