About the Project
We are seeking experienced LAN/WAN Network Engineers to support the design, implementation, and operation of complex network infrastructures in a highly secure environment.
This project operates within the Swiss Federal Administration, contributing to mission-critical defense and communication networks. It therefore requires exceptional technical expertise, discretion, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and implementation of LAN/WAN network architectures
2. Preparation of high-level and detailed designs, test and integration concepts
3. Building and execution of Proof of Concepts (PoC) in lab and integration environments
4. Execution of FAT/SAT testing (Factory and Site Acceptance Tests)
5. Evaluation and homologation of suitable network components
6. Release and patch management across test, integration, and production environments
7. Ensuring availability and performance optimization of IT network services
8. Analysis, documentation, and resolution of incidents, events, and problems
9. Leading task forces and working groups for problem resolution and service improvements
10. Creation and maintenance of technical documentation, operating manuals, and specifications
11. Administration of documentation systems such as IPAM (IP Address Management) and RMDB (Resource Management Database)
12. Preparation, submission, and implementation of approved Change Requests
13. Monitoring and configuration management of assigned IT network services
14. Support of on-site installation and commissioning (performed by a third party)
15. Execution of operational network service tasks to maintain system readiness
16. Working during maintenance windows and participating in on-call (standby) duty
Your Profile
17. Several years of professional experience as a LAN/WAN Network Engineer in enterprise or governmental environments
18. Strong knowledge of routing, switching, network security, and monitoring
19. Experience in multi-vendor environments (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, etc.)
20. Solid understanding of ITIL processes, change management, and incident management
21. Analytical, structured, and proactive working style
22. High sense of responsibility and strong teamwork skills
23. Willingness to work in a classified and security-sensitive environment
Required Certifications (one or more of the following)
24. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP): Routing & Switching, Security, Service Provider, or Wireless
or
25. Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) in one of the above areas
or
26. Equivalent certification and demonstrable experience
Prerequisites
27. Language: German level B2 (minimum)
28. Valid Swiss work permit and residence (mandatory)
29. References: Minimum of 2 professional references (not older than 5 years)
