A globally operating company in the health, cosmetics, and personal care retail sector, with a location in the heart of Zurich, is seeking a motivated and experienced Purchasing Assistant (m/f/d) to support efforts to drive value and profitability across multiple European markets by contributing to supplier tenders and international commercial initiatives.
This position is a temporary assignment, starting in August 2025 for the next 6 months, with an extension option.
Description
The Purchasing Assistant (m/f/d) plays a key role in the daily administration of cross-border procurement activities. Responsibilities include:
1. Preparing documentation, compiling and analyzing data, managing vendor relationships, overseeing contract processes, coordinating product samples, and organizing internal and external meetings.
2. Providing hands-on assistance to purchasing professionals and liaising with regional teams and vendors.
3. Supporting procurement cycles from initial vendor search and agreement signing to tender documentation, contract finalization, and reporting.
4. Facilitating communication across the network and organizing calls and team sessions.
5. Handling administrative responsibilities such as document management and sample tracking.
6. Participating in regular team syncs to ensure priority alignment.
Profile
In order to be considered for the role, the candidate must have:
* A successfully completed academic background or a commercial degree.
* At least 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, ideally as an operative buyer within the consumer goods or retail industry.
* Experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
* Proficiency in MS Office, as well as internal CRM and ERP systems.
* Solid English skills; German or Dutch skills are highly beneficial, especially German.
* Strong communication skills for effective interaction at all levels.
* A positive attitude, resilience, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Willingness to travel approximately three times annually.
