The role is responsible for the success of the organization’s export operations by coordinating shipments, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, and managing export team members involved in supervisory, pre-shipment, and post-shipment activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency in shipment processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure compliance with destination documentation requirements as specified in shipping instructions.
2. Prepare accurate reports of all Nigeria-origin export shipments for the Business Head and the Trade team in Dubai.
3. Schedule inspections with regulatory agencies for statutory documents such as NAQS (NON-GMO & PHYTOSANITARY CERTIFICATE), NDLEA, and Customs.
4. Handle NXPs, stakeholder verifications for inspection requests, NESS payments, and retrieval of CCI.
5. Maintain records of inflows to reconcile funds with NXP values in coordination with the finance team and bank.
6. Manage contacts within ports, shipping lines, customs, and inspection agents to prevent delays in transit from warehouse to destination port.
7. Negotiate and compile cost-effective freight rates from shipping lines as directed by the Business Head.
8. Train export team members on recent export operations processes in Nigeria.
9. Keep detailed records of forwarding charges, terminal handling charges, export and fumigation levies, and payments to quality inspection surveyors for reconciliation.
10. Organize regular meetings with logistics team members to address operational issues.
11. Update the Dubai team on pending freight payments to ensure timely documentation.
12. Coordinate vessel planning operations with the cargo readiness team to avoid renomination charges and delays at the terminal.
13. Manage all Export Expansion Grant (EEG) filings, ensuring proper documentation and timely uploads on the EEG portal.
14. Provide innovative ideas and suggestions to the ENS Business Head for process improvements.
Qualifications / Experience and Skills
1. BSc. in Business Administration, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or a maritime-related field.
2. Minimum of 7 years’ experience in logistics management, preferably in import and export operations.
3. High accuracy in checking and processing information.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5. Strong decision-making abilities and timeliness.
6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate accountability.
7. Analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for report development.
8. Leadership qualities with a capacity to take ownership and lead by example.
9. Extensive knowledge in raising NXPs, stakeholder verifications, NESS payments, and CCI retrieval.
