SwissMarine is a freight operator offering transportation services on Dry Bulk vessels from Supramax to Cape size. The company manages a fleet of around 170 vessels and transports 120 million tons of cargo annually. Our Geneva Branch is offering the position of:
Vessel Operator
The successful candidate must effectively manage the end-to-end operation of voyage and time-chartered vessels to maximize profits. Initiative in suggesting relevant improvements is encouraged, as the company is open to implementing ideas.
Responsibilities:
1. Scheduling, commencing, and managing fixtures in the internal trade capture system.
2. Voyage planning, preparing, and sending detailed TC/VC instructions.
3. Appointing agents and arranging disbursement payments.
4. Approving and processing cargo documents such as BLs / switch BL procedures.
5. Bunker planning and potentially bunker procurement.
6. Freight invoicing and occasionally TCE calculations.
7. Laytime calculation and negotiation.
8. Monitoring vessel movements and performance.
9. Assisting the finance department with evaluations of ongoing voyages and monitoring changes affecting the P&L.
10. Maintaining operational records, files, and databases for the department and fleet.
The candidate will need to maintain vessel status updates and collaborate closely with the Chartering department, clients, vendors, and shipboard staff.
The role is suitable for someone fluent in English with experience in a fast-paced environment, ideally with handling various bulk carrier vessels.
Requirements:
* Swiss permit or EU nationality.
* 3-7 years of relevant experience.
* Strong negotiation, numerical, and communication skills.
