To further develop our activities in autonomous shipping, we are looking for a Development Engineer / Project Manager – Autonomous Watercraft to join our team in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Your role
In this position, you will play a key role in the development of autonomous watercraft, from initial concepts and prototypes through to real-life applications on the water. You will lead relevant pilot projects for autonomous driving and control systems, define project stages and work closely with interdisciplinary teams. Together with the Head of Development for self-driving vessels and the project team, you will define testing, system and safety requirements, evaluate tools as well as hardware and software components, and ensure successful project delivery in terms of quality, deadlines, costs and stakeholder satisfaction.
Your responsibilities
* Lead pilot projects for autonomous control systems in shipping, up to fully autonomous vessels
* Support development, engineering and production in the construction of prototypes
* Manage project timelines, quality and costs
* Develop concepts for different levels of automation in shipping
* Define hardware and software system requirements, including sensors, measurement and control technology, signal processing, visual processing, machine learning and AI applications
* Test, evaluate and optimise systems during trial operations
* Adapt solutions to customer applications, specific use cases and safety requirements
* Advise customers and develop customised self-driving solutions for energy-optimised watercraft
* Contribute actively to a future technology with significant development potential
Your profile
* Degree in automotive or vehicle engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, shipbuilding or a comparable field
* Further training or practical experience in robotics, systems and control, data analysis or artificial intelligence
* Further training in project management, ideally IPMA or equivalent
* Experience in project management, prototype development, testing and simulation systems
* High level of self-motivation and curiosity for new technologies
* Strong communication skills when working with customers, partners and authorities
* Very good German and English skills
