Volunteers will enjoy a unique opportunity to view the United Nations human rights system at work and to contribute to our mission: supporting human rights defenders, strengthening human rights systems, building and leading human rights coalitions, and responding to significant and systemic human rights concerns. For more information, consult our website. /p h3bVolunteering at ISHR /b /h3 pVolunteers will contribute to our work supporting several countries, advocating at the United Nations and strengthening coalitions. Several topics will be covered, including women’s rights, the rights of LGBTIQ+ people, environmental justice, the rights of Indigenous Peoples, protection laws for human rights defenders, non-discrimination etc. /p pISHR is currently looking for volunteers to help our Communications Campaigns teams with video editing, translations and social media. The list of tasks below gives an overview of what one or more volunteers could work on, depending on their individual skills, experience and preference. Likewise, items listed under “Requirements” highlight the type of expertise and skills relevant to ISHR - we do not expect to find all of them in one single volunteer. /p h3bKey tasks /b /h3 ul liDrafting content for social media /li liDrafting content for Google ads /li liTranslation of content (eg campaign pages, social media plans, video subtitles …) /li liCreation of social media visuals using Canva /li /ul h3bRequirements /b /h3 pTo be considered, applicants should have a strong interest in human rights, attention to detail in addition to at least one or two of the following requirements: /p ul liStrong writing and copy-editing skills /li liKnowledge and some experience with social media /li liAt ease with at least some of the following tools: video editing software such as Premiere Pro, graphic design software Canva, social media management software Hootsuite, website content management system (ideally WordPress), generative AI tools /li liLanguages: Fluent in English, other languages (Spanish, French) a strong advantage. /li /ul pApplicants should be available to work at least 2 hours and up to 6 hours per week on average, ideally for a period of 6 months minimum. /p h3bWhat ISHR offers /b /h3 ul liA friendly team environment /li liFlexible home and/or on-site working /li liExposure to major human rights questions /li liOpportunity to support human rights defenders and their vital work globally /li liOpportunity to put your skills into practice for a good cause. /li /ul pPlease note that this is a pro-bono opportunity and that work performed for ISHR in the frame of our volunteering agreements do not include any compensation.
