Description

Summary

The Director of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manages regional teams responsible for the operations and maintenance of all PV Systems in the Novel Energy Solutions portfolio. The O&M team’s main objective is to keep projects operating at peak capacity, while maintaining cost effective practices.

Essential Functions


* Responsible for managing all O&M functions, teams, and activities to ensure effective performance and adherence to Novel Energy Solutions standards and objectives.
* Develop and implement internal process improvements for the O&M team considering the project pipeline; work cross functionally with Accounting, Legal, Construction, Engineering, and IT to coordinate best practices.
* Prepare routine reports for internal and external use, determining KPIs and metrics that will represent O&M business activity and performance. On a consistent basis, report to the management team all projects' progress, new issues, resolutions, and budget and schedule compliance.
* Collaborate with the Project Management, Engineering, and Construction teams to confirm that systems are built to meet specifications.
* Read, interpret, and understand all project documentation such as EPC agreements, insurance, permitting requirements, and warranty documentation.
* Maintain a schedule for routine maintenance, service, washing, trouble shooting and repair of equipment at solar photovoltaic facilities.
* Ensure seamless handoff between active construction and O&M.
* Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving. Develop and implement internal process improvements for the O&M team; work cross-functionally with other groups to implement best practices.
* Assure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA and/or MSHA safety standards. Identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazards. Instill the belief that all projects can be completed with ZERO injuries, and the safety of our employees, subs, and owners is a top priority.
* Establish KPIs to?evaluate operational efficiency across all sites.
* Proactively look for opportunities to grow O&M revenue and net margins.
* Establish policies and procedures to support O&M operations.
* Identify, develop, and build relationships with 3rd party service providers and landowners.
* Other duties as assigned.

Competencies

* Technical and Industry Knowledge. In-depth knowledge of solar PV systems, including string inverters, energy storage, racking tracker systems, and data acquisition systems. Familiarity with O&M best practices and strategies for preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance.
* Leadership, Management, and Accountability, strong leadership skills to oversee the O&M team, the ability to train and develop personnel, and provide conflict resolution when necessary.
* Strategic Thinking and Decision Making. Strong planning skills to align O&M activities with larger company level goals. Capacity to prioritize resources effectively across a portfolio of multiple sites.
* Strong budgeting and financial planning skills, including cost control, spare parts inventory management, and expense tracking.
* Strong communication skills to engage with internal stakeholders, clients, and vendors. Must have the ability to present technical and financial data in a clear and concise manner to a range of audiences.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will have multiple direct reports, specifically regional managers responsible for a portfolio of projects.

Requirements

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to occasionally inspect the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions. This position can be performed in outside weather conditions and in an office environment.

Physical Demands

* Work is to be performed in the field and in the office.
* Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures. PPE personal protective equipment usage is required (including but not limited to; hard hat, arc flash protection, safety glasses, hearing protection).
* Must have the ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day, as well as working at heights on a regular basis.
* Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position and may require longer hours and frequent weekend work.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel is to be expected.

Required Education And Experience

* Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field, or related field experience
* 5+ years of experience in Solar Technical / Operations. Experience in all aspects of PV maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium voltage systems, and network communications and monitoring
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Proficiency with MS Office Suite
* Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
* OSHA 10 Certified
* Ability to take direction and complete tasks with minimal oversight

Preferred Eligibility Qualifications

* Strong financial acumen including budgeting and financial forecasting
* NABCEP Certified Installation Professional
* Strong understanding of the NEC Code
* OSHA 30 Certified

Salary Description
