Summer Students in Scientific Computing, Theory and Data
The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting‑edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation and fundamentals of nature. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations. Therefore, about one quarter of our staff are post‑docs, post‑graduates or apprentices. Altogether, PSI employs 2300 people.
The PSI Center for Scientific Computing, Theory and Data links new opportunities of computational materials modelling and data science with PSI’s unique large research facilities. We are looking for summer students who want to contribute to cutting‑edge research.
Your tasks
* Participation in research activities of the center
The project descriptions are listed in the PSI Center portal. Please state your preferred project in your application. More information about the program can be found in the portal.
Your profile
* You should have completed three years of full‑time studies at university level by summer 2026 in natural or engineering science disciplines or computing.
* You are expected to obtain your Bachelor’s degree in summer 2026 or are enrolled in a Master’s programme at a university.
* You have not previously been at PSI as a summer student.
* You have a good working knowledge of English and some basic computing skills.
We offer
For the duration of typically 8‑12 weeks, you will be part of a research group at PSI, contributing to its research activities through an individual work project. Your stay will be enriched by complementary lectures and activities with other students.
