The Pest Controller detects, eliminates, and controls the infestation of insects (crawling, flying, hiding) and vermin throughout the vessel. Monitors and records the Integrated Pest Management system for Ship and Shore Management.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The position of Pest Control Technician may be performed by more than one person on larger ships.
1. The Pest Control Technician is responsible for carrying out the full duties defined in the Integrated Pest Management System, as detailed in the MSC Standard Procedures Manual and the Vessel Sanitation Program (CDC-USPHS).
2. Pest Control Technicians may be promoted from any department. For handling chemicals and control treatments, they must be certified as applicators of toxic and dangerous chemicals and report to the Staff Captain, who supervises the maintenance of treatment records.
3. Fluent in oral and written English (the working and safety language of the company).
4. Ability to speak, read, and write in Italian is a major benefit and may be a requirement.
5. Ability to speak, read, and write in any major other languages (German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Russian, Chinese, etc.) is considered a significant advantage that could influence selection for some positions.

Applicants must meet the health and physical requirements of the Flag State of the ship and possess current medical documentation certifying compliance with the specific requirements of this position.
