Job Responsibilities Assists with ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
Responsible for updating and initiating new contracts in Oracle Projects Module, including contract review and the summarization of key financial data.
Performs monthly internal controls related to revenue calculations/key inputs, including approval of final accrual.
Assist with the review and update of internal controls as needed, to ensure compliance with company policies and GAAP.
Identify and report key risks to management.
Assist with ensuring compliance with process control narratives to meet Sarbanes-Oxley Internal Controls objectives and maintain appropriate process documentation.
Alert management to discrepancies between written processes and current procedures so that procedures can be updated.
Review, maintain, and prepare detailed journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for general ledger and SOX controls.
Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual preparation of Flux analysis reporting.
Calculate variances from forecast and report significant issues to management.
Ensure accuracy of contra-revenue related reserves pertaining to rebates and at-risk revenue.
Participate in the preparation of interim and annual audit requests.
Foster positive relationships with the General Ledger team and international accounting personnel as well as other departments.
Participate in cross-functional teams as needed.
Integrate new accounting requirements into policy and participate in implementation efforts for new accounting standards.
Identify best practices and investigate root causes of issues, recommending solutions.
Document and analyze current accounting procedures.
Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the accounting process.
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger structure and assist in maintaining Oracle systems to manage the general ledger and sub-ledgers.
Lead special projects to enhance technology or resolve issues raised by other departments.
Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Job Requirements BS/BA degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Progressive accounting experience, preferably within the CRO or pharmaceutical industry.
Minimum 7 to 8 years of experience in general ledger accounting and revenue recognition.
Familiarity with contracts in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
Certified Public Accountant or qualified membership of a professional accountancy body equivalent preferred.
Experience in working in an internationally oriented organization and knowledge of US GAAP.
Experience working with large ERP systems; Oracle Financial experience is preferred.
Ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Effective presentation, documentation, and interpersonal skills with a team-oriented approach.
Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
Able to resolve issues diplomatically.
Strong work ethic, professional attitude and reliability.
Strong problem solving, research and data analysis skills.
Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email and voicemail.
Fluency in written and spoken English.

Summary
Summary: The Senior Accountant Revenue Compliance will be responsible for performing internal controls related to the Revenue Recognition process, providing assistance in electronic contract management, key control balance sheet and P&L analytics, and assistance with monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting packages. This position will read and evaluate contracts, working with the pricing and operations departments. Ideally, will have experience with revenue recognition and variance analysis. Must have very strong Excel skills.
