Swiss Paraplegic Research (SPF) is an affiliate of the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation. The mission of SPF is sustainably improving the situation of people with spinal cord injury (SCI) through clinical and interdisciplinary research on a national and international level. Specific areas of its comprehensive research include functioning, movement and mobility, social integration, equality of opportunity, self-determination, quality of life, health services provision as well as morbidity and mortality. SPF is an extra-university research institution recognized and promoted by the Swiss federal government and the cantons and an active link to academic and industrial research and development at the national and international levels.
We are currently looking for a
PhD candidate in Rehabilomics and Spinal Cord Injury 100%
to join our Rehabilomics framework, merging rehabilitation science with omics technologies. The role involves developing a digital biobank within the SwiSCI Biobank, advancing SCI rehabilitation research. The candidate will register at the University of Bern, supported by experts in translational medicine and data science.
Program: This program offers training in SCI, rehabilomics, and biobanking. Responsibilities include designing a rehabilomics platform, conducting SCI research, and publishing findings to advance rehabilitation science.
Your Verantwortung
1. Reviewing scientific literature
2. Developing a PhD research plan
3. Planning, managing and conducting data collection and performing analyses
4. Writing of ethical applications and scientific papers as part of the PhD thesis
5. Presenting study results at national and international conferences
6. Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of researchers
7. Regular participation in the University's graduate program
Your Persönlichkeit
8. Bachelor's in Biomedical field, or Engineering or Natural or Life Sciences
9. Master's in Bioinformatics or Data Science or Biomedical Engineering or Life Sciences and Biology.
10. Some informatics skills, preferably experience with large datasets
11. Familiarity with omics technologies and background in experimental design, data collection, and analysis
12. Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
13. Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills
14. Fluent in English with good German language skills
