We are looking for a proactive and delivery-driven Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Digital Platforms team in Grenchen.
The website and eCommerce platforms consist of several backend Python applications, leveraging FastAPI and Pydantic, for services connected to Next.js based React applications.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, your primary focus is to act as an expert, partner with engineers and architects, and contribute to the continuous development of the DevOps platform by implementing new solutions and features.
You will be the owner of code management, including complete CI/CD, and promote an ‘automate everything’ approach, while applying best engineering practices to ensure consistent and transparent execution.
Your commitment to team collaboration, effective communication, and delivering a quality product is crucial.
Your contribution:
1. Work closely with the project team and partners to accelerate business development using DevOps methodologies and solutions.
2. Own the CI/CD and cloud strategy.
3. Collaborate with developers and architects during development, testing, deployment, and operation of new tools, products, and services; serve as the main contact for DevOps topics with partners.
4. Be autonomous and proactive; understand requirements, identify gaps, and suggest improvements.
5. Engage with stakeholders to identify opportunities and pain points, and translate vision and requirements into specific products and components.
6. Monitor and optimize server and service performance, usage, logs, metrics, alerts (Datadog, Sentry), and SLAs.
7. Develop and implement security and Business Continuity Planning / Disaster Recovery strategies, conduct risk assessments, and identify vulnerabilities.
8. Research and recommend innovative, possibly automated, approaches for system administration and provisioning tasks.
9. Update configurations of CDN, WAF (Akamai / Cloudflare).
You will fit well into our squad if:
1. You have at least 3 years of experience in a DevOps-focused role, ideally in the eCommerce domain.
2. You hold an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field.
3. You have a minimum of 1 year experience with AWS (EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda), Kubernetes, Vercel, GIT, Docker, Docker Compose, Redis, PostgreSQL, CI/CD solutions (Bitbucket pipelines, ArgoCD, Kustomize, Terraform), or similar.
4. You are passionate and knowledgeable about DevOps methodologies, solutions, and cloud-native development.
5. You have a desire to learn and expand your skills as new technological trends emerge in DevOps.
6. You have proven expertise with container runtimes and orchestration platforms, especially Docker and Kubernetes, and a deep understanding of SDLC, cloud operations, and support service delivery, with hands-on experience in best practices or improvements.
7. You can contribute to defining standards and good practices.
8. Experience with Infrastructure-As-Code automation using Terraform, coding (best practices, git workflows, testing), and scripting is desired.
9. You develop and enhance tools for automated delivery, testing, deployment, and management of the DevOps platform.
10. You have experience with infrastructure monitoring tools (Datadog, Sentry).
11. You possess expertise in security products, including network and information security.
12. You have strong time management and organizational skills.
13. You are fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
14. Cybersecurity experience would be advantageous.
15. Effectiveness, efficiency, and innovative, experimentation-oriented thinking are important qualities.
