Job Description
Join us as a Senior Functional Safety Hardware Engineer (m/f/d) 80 - 100 %. Join our mission to engineer safer, smarter systems! As a Senior Functional Safety Hardware Engineer, you will play a key role in designing robust, safety-compliant hardware architectures.
Your expertise will directly contribute to future product certifications and enable innovation across our next generation of safety-critical systems. This is a high-impact role where your work will reduce development risk, ensure compliance with international standards, and help shape the future of our safety-driven technology.
Responsibilities
* Designing and developing hardware systems in compliance with IEC 61508 safety standards.
* Conducting safety analyses such as FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA to support safety case documentation.
* Leading hardware fault injection testing and ensuring validation coverage across assemblies.
* Collaborating with software, systems, and quality teams to ensure safety compliance.
* Interfacing with external certification bodies to support assessment and audits.
* Contributing to the definition of safety plans, requirements, and verification strategies.
Requirements
* Degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Electronics Design or similar.
* Solid experience in HW/PCBA design and a proven track record in functional safety projects.
* Proven experience in hardware designs for systems requiring functional safety.
* Hands-on involvement in IEC 61508-certified projects, knowledge of related standards is a plus.
* Knowledge of safety analysis as FMEDA and FMEA tailored to PCB-level circuits.
* Strong understanding of high-reliability layout techniques, fail-safe design and electrical isolation methods.
* Experience designing for robust signal quality and electromagnetic compliance, including safe power distribution and layout best practices.
* Awareness of key reliability metrics such as MTTF and FIT, and the ability to apply effective derating strategies in hardware design.
* Fluency in English, Italian or German are a plus.
