For our Engineering and Project Management team, located in Rossens, Switzerland, we are looking for a
Field Application Engineer
The Field Application Engineer is tasked with applying technical expertise and project management skills to lead, execute and support projects related to substation digitalization. These projects involve complex engineering or technical solutions aligned with customer needs, business goals and industry standards. As the primary contact for customers, he/she improves customer satisfaction and ensure that projects are delivered successfully with the technical requirements fully met.
MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Define with customers and stakeholders the project objectives, scope, and deliverables.
* Apply electrical or automation engineering knowledge to solve complex technical challenges with the support of the Software Development Team and the Technical Domain Expert.
* Propose solutions in line with customer needs and relevant engineering codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Implement the solution: order and assemble the required hardware, configure the software solution with dedicated tools, carry out internal tests, install and test the solution on customer sites, update the engineering documentation (electrical diagrams, procedures), provide on-site and remote technical support to customers.
* Create project plans, schedules and budgets, and ensure adherence to these plans throughout the project lifecycle.
* Coordinate with the supply chain and/or subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of project components.
* Generate progress reports and communicate project status to stakeholders.
* Identify potential risks and issues and develop mitigation strategies.
* Lead or participate to other project activities, such as sales application support and tenders, maintenance or support, and conduct training or workshops to both the project team and the customer.
* Occasionally, participate to promotional activities (Customer visit, conference, symposium ..) with the sales team.
The Field Application Engineer may be required to travel within and outside of Switzerland when circumstances dictate.
EDUCATIONAL LEVEL & EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (electrical or automation) or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
* Substantial experience in Project Management must be demonstrated.
* Several years of engineering experience, including project management or project engineering roles.
* Specific expertise and competencies may be required for projects.
KNOWLEDGE, SPECIFIC SKILLS & ABILITIES
* Fluent in French, good level in English and German is required.
* Proficiency in configuration software and tools
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in interacting with customers at different levels
* Customer-oriented
* Knowledge of industry-standard project management methodologies
