Your Role Onboard and Ashore
As QHSE Manager, you will monitor and maintain our company’s Quality, Health, Safety,
and Environmental (QHSE) management systems for all inland shipping activities. You’ll
act as the bridge between vessel crews, management, and external stakeholders
ensuring continuous improvement, compliance, and a proactive safety-first culture
across our fleet.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement QHSE policies and procedures in line with ISO
standards, ADN, and national regulations. Ensure systems are up-to-date and
properly aligned with operational realities.
Conduct regular onboard and shoreside audits. Support crews during
inspections and external audits. Monitor QHSE-related vessel certifications and
ensure timely compliance (in close cooperation with the Technical Department).
• Incident Management & Emergency Preparedness
Investigate and report incidents and near misses. Support fleet-wide knowledge
sharing and emergency response planning. Monitor onboard emergency drills
and assess preparedness.
Promote awareness and proactive behavior through onboard training and safety
campaigns. Contribute to crew development in QHSE topics.
Stay up to date with evolving legislation. Advise management and vessel
operators on implications and ensure implementation.
Collect, analyze, and report on QHSE performance indicators and trends for both
internal and external stakeholders.
Work cross-functionally with captains, technical management, HR, and
authorities to foster a strong and unified safety culture.
What You Bring Onboard
• A bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, Marine Engineering,
or a technical/safety-related field
• Additional certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, NEBOSH, VCA) are a plus
• Auditor certification (ISM/ISPS/MLC) or experience as Designated Person Ashore
(DPA) / Company Security Officer (CSO) is highly desirable
• 2–3 years of QHSE experience in inland shipping, logistics, or maritime
• Familiarity with inland waterway regulations and hands-on audit/investigation
experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with both crews and
management
• Excellent analytical thinking and a structured, proactive mindset
• Fluency in English (additional European languages are a plus)
• Willingness and flexibility to travel frequently to vessel locations
