Mechatronic systems & simulation engineer (F/M/D) 100%

Join CSEM as a Mechatronic systems & simulation engineer in the Precision Mechanisms group, based in Neuchâtel.

Contract: maximum duration of 2 years.


Responsibilities

* Analyze and translate customer needs into clear system requirements, forming the basis for innovative and tailored solutions.
* Develop, optimize, and validate solutions using multiphysics modelling, FEM tools, and experimental testing with custom-built equipment, in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams (mechanics, electronics, control, optics, photonics).
* Apply systems engineering methodologies, ensuring requirements traceability, interface management, and rigorous verification.
* Drive innovation by applying scientific creativity to develop new ideas and activities.
* Support business development and CSEM’s visibility through proactive technical engagement with clients, proposal writing, and representation at conferences and scientific events.


Qualifications

* Master’s degree or PhD in Microtechnology or Mechanical Engineering.
* Strong expertise in the design of compliant mechanisms and (opto-)mechatronic systems, with a particular focus on watch and space applications.
* Proven experience in experimental validation and model correlation.
* Proficiency in CAD tools (SOLIDWORKS).
* Knowledge of watch and space-related standards is a strong asset.
* Good command of systems engineering practices, including requirements management and interface control.
* Hands‑on experience working in multidisciplinary environments (mechanical, electronics, control, optics, photonics).


Interpersonal Skills

* Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills in English and French, with strong synthesis abilities for proposals and scientific publications.
* Customer‑ and results‑oriented, with strong analytical skills and critical thinking.
* Excellent team player, able to collaborate with various internal partners across the organization.
* Strong technical leadership in the preparation of proposals and during the project lifecycle.
* Innovative and out‑of‑the‑box thinker, with natural curiosity and interest in multidisciplinary activities.
* Fluency in French and English.
