Position Overview
We are seeking a recent chemistry or food science graduate to enhance and optimize our existing sophisticated ontological database of food ingredients. This role focuses on leveraging chemical expertise to refine data relationships, validate technical functions, and improve the accuracy of our comprehensive ingredient intelligence system.
This position will focus on enhancing our existing sophisticated ontological database by applying deep chemical knowledge to optimize data relationships and improve system accuracy. The successful candidate will work with established database infrastructure to refine how ingredients are classified, how their interactions are modelled, and how their functional properties are represented, ensuring our system remains at the forefront of food ingredient intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyze and refine existing ingredient data relationships within our established database framework
* Validate and enhance technical function classifications and ingredient property mappings
* Optimize ontological structures to improve data accuracy and user experience
* Identify gaps in current data coverage and systematically address missing information
* Fine-tune ingredient interaction models and substitution relationship algorithms
* Enhance processing behavior data and environmental sensitivity parameters
* Collaborate with database architects to implement data quality improvements
* Develop data validation protocols and quality assurance procedures
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or related field
* Strong foundation in organic chemistry and biochemistry
* Knowledge of food manufacturing processes and ingredient functionality
* Excellent research skills using scientific databases and literature and analytical skills
* Detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities
* Proficiency in data management, documentation, validation and quality assurance
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent productivity tools
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working with existing database systems or data optimization projects
* Analytical mindset for identifying data quality issues and improvement opportunities
* Understanding of ontological frameworks and semantic data relationships
* Knowledge of food regulations and ingredient classification systems
* Programming or database management experience (SQL, Python, or similar)
* Previous internship or project work in food industry
