Community managers for language learning platform

ESN (European Service Network S.A.) is looking for freelance community managers who are native speakers of one of 29 languages listed below. Depending on the language, hours worked may vary from 10-60 hours a month. You can be based anywhere, ideally in a country where the language is spoken.


Mission

A Community Manager is a native speaker responsible for fostering an active, educational, and supportive environment for language learners.

The languages covered are: Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Icelandic, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Maltese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovene, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.


Core responsibilities

* Engagement & animation: Stimulating language practice through daily interactions, including posts, quizzes, fun facts, and mini-contests.
* Moderation: Facilitating discussion forums and live speaking sessions while ensuring all interactions remain respectful and adhere to community guidelines.
* Educational support: Assisting participants with specific linguistic questions and guiding them through their personalised language learning pathways.
* Content creation: Developing high-quality, relevant, and engaging multimedia content (videos, articles, and posts) tailored to specific language levels.
* Reputation & sentiment monitoring: Tracking community sentiment and proactively identifying potential issues or needs within the learner base.


Required skills & qualifications

* Linguistic expertise: Native-level proficiency in the target language and excellent communication skills.
* Community management: Experience in moderating online communities, ideally within educational, public, or EU-funded campaigns.
* Interpersonal skills: High level of empathy and patience to support diverse learners and build trust within the community.
* Technical proficiency: Familiarity with online learning platforms (e.g., EU Academy), social media tools, and community analytics.
* Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to provide cultural counsel and ensure an inclusive atmosphere for participants from various backgrounds.
