BakerHicks is a leading consultancy in the power transmission and distribution sector in the UK, expanding their power team in the DACH region. They are seeking an ambitious Substation / Primary Layout Engineer to support this growth.
You will be an experienced engineer in the design and planning of transmission-level onshore substations at voltages from 110kV to 400kV. Responsibilities include the production of substation primary layouts, equipment specifications, rating calculations, short circuit force calculations, earthing studies, impressed voltage calculations, material specifications, fault calculations, wiring diagrams, protection requirements, and system modeling.
You must have full working proficiency in German and a good level of English.

Responsibilities:
1. Provide substation layout designs and act as lead substation engineer/planner.
2. Work closely with UK design teams to ensure compliance with local standards.
3. Ensure design scope is delivered on time and within budget.
Your Profile:
1. Experience in design, calculations, reports, and drawings for HV power transmission systems, HVDC interconnectors, or HV renewable energy infrastructure in the DACH region.
2. Full working proficiency in German and a good level of English.
3. Specialist knowledge in High Voltage Substations.
4. Willingness to travel occasionally to BakerHicks offices in Basel and London.
Travel and Work Arrangements:
The duration of projects ranges from 6 to 24 months. Work locations are mainly at the client's site, with some options for remote work in consultation with project management. Employees have opportunities to work with different clients and technologies, visit new cities, while returning home on weekends.
