Roles and responsibilities:
As a Residence Intern, you’ll be at the heart of the Embassy’s social and ceremonial life, supporting high-profile events hosted by the Ambassador. Your responsibilities will include:
5. Preparing and serving at official functions — from intimate breakfasts to grand receptions.
6. Assisting with event logistics, table settings, and guest service.
7. Supporting the Head of Housekeeping & Service and occasionally stepping into their role.
8. Collaborating with the Chef on event prep and admin.
9. Managing sound and IT systems during events.
10. Helping with housekeeping, seasonal decorations, and the overall presentation of the Residence.
11. Playing a key role in organising the annual King’s Birthday Party Reception — one of the Embassy’s most prestigious events.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Our ideal candidate shows:
12. Proficiency in English at a minimum of C1 level according to CEFR Framework*;
13. Previous experience in hospitality (hotel, restaurant, catering, or similar).
14. Friendly, proactive, and professional — with a strong sense of discretion.
15. A team player with excellent communication and customer service skills.
16. Comfortable using Microsoft Office and basic IT systems.
17. Legally entitled to live and work in Switzerland.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Nice to have:
18. Current students of Hospitality or a related field at an undergraduate level, or being a recent graduate;
19. Knowledge of French and/or German language;
20. Willingness to share their knowledge on Hospitality related topics, with a particular focus on beverages, in order to support team development and continuous learning.

This is a full-time internship contract for 11 months of 37.5 hours per week, inclusive of four compulsory 45-minute lunch breaks. Time off in Lieu is available where staff are required to work beyond their contracted hours and where agreed in advance with line manager.
The job holder will also be required to work on some evenings and weekends by prior arrangement.
Gross monthly Stipend / Allowance is CHF 2,190. The annual leave entitlement is 25 days per year, and the Embassy also enjoys 13 Swiss/ UK public holidays per year.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background and security clearances before a contract is offered.
