Data Management Specialist
As the premier supplier to our international banking client in Basel, Swisslinx are looking for a Data Management Specialist to formalise personal data mapping and inventories as part of a PDP project.
This is a rolling 6 month contract running with potential to extend up to five years. The role is starting by September/October, however our client can wait longer for the right candidate until October if required.
The person will assist with the new phase of a PDP project, helping the team identify personal data within the Bank (internal exchange of data) across the different Business Units and focus on data management aspects.
This contractor will help map and record data related to asset inventory and processing of Personal data to know what data is stored where. Tasks will include assessing risks related to the handling of personal data and making recommendations. They will also be involved in promoting best practices for mapping data.
PDP is not fully implemented, and some business areas are more advanced with the topic than others. Therefore, we need an individual who is ready to guide the business areas, understands priorities, and can work on a risk-based approach.
Your responsibilities will include the following:
1. Work closely with stakeholders to formalise detailed data inventories, mapping out the flow of personal data across systems, processes, and third parties.
2. Collaborate with the IT department and different units across the organization to gather information and update asset inventories, including hardware, software, and data repositories.
3. Assess the privacy risks associated with data processing activities and recommend appropriate mitigations.
4. Provide support to the team and employees to ensure awareness of data privacy and data confidentiality best practices.
5. Support development of information and data governance practices.
An experienced data management professional with business analysis skills and an understanding of personal data protection principles and regulations. We need a flexible individual with good stakeholder management skills and an ability to pivot quickly (ability to work across different topics and manage priorities).
In order to be considered for this role, you will possess the following skills and experience:
1. About four years of professional experience in the area of Data Management, Data Protection, Data Governance, etc.
2. Strong experience in particular in Data Management and knowledge of data processing, data inventories & repositories, etc.
3. Good understanding of data management (e.g., DAMA, DMBOK2) and relevant software platform solutions.
4. Fluency in English.
Nice to have:
1. Familiarity with data protection regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or other applicable laws.
2. Additional experience in Information Management, Data Protection, or in a Data Protection office, in Privacy/Compliance, Data Governance (e.g., as Business Analyst/Data Management Specialist/Data Governance Specialist, etc.) welcome.
3. Experience in business analysis.
Please note interviews would be conducted via video call (usually max two rounds), however, the role is based 100% in Switzerland.
