Electromechanical Technical Engineer for the CMS Experiment (EP-CMS-IC-2026-98-LD)
Contract
Responsibilities
Supervise and follow up on the decommissioning and subsequent reinstallation of electronics and power racks in the underground area, coordinating different teams.
Manage infrastructure projects deployed progressively, including the installation of services such as power distribution, HVAC, and building renovation.
Take responsibility for the coordination and validation of infrastructure works in both the underground and surface experimental areas of the CMS experiment.
Organise the required technical support from central technical teams for each work package you lead.
Prepare and maintain field operation planning.
Perform day-to-day follow-up of site activities carried out by technical support teams and subcontractors.
Monitor work progress, report to CMS experiment management, and adjust plans and resources as required.
Support projects with logistical and operational assistance.
Act as the territorial safety officer for underground and/or surface buildings.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Electromechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience
Solid experience in supervising and following up on technical work integrating multiple disciplines (construction, mechanical, electrical, cooling).
Proven ability in organising teamwork and coordinating on-site technical activities.
Successful experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Proficiency in ensuring safety in the workplace.
Experience in the installation and handling of equipment.
Solid knowledge in project management, including drafting technical specifications, placing orders, managing contracts, and monitoring quality and progress.
Knowledge of project planning tools and related software.
Ability to read 2D and 3D designs; experience in producing 2D and 3D drawings is an advantage.
Experience in radio‑protection and work in classified areas, as well as in the installation and verification of scaffolding and the use of mobile elevating work platforms, would be a plus.
Operation and maintenance of electromechanical equipment and systems.
Definition and installation of transport systems.
Specification and follow‑up of technical aspects of a contract.
Project management.

Employment Conditions
Contract type: Limited duration contract (5 years). Subject to certain conditions, holders of limited‑duration contracts may apply for an indefinite position.

This position involves:

A valid driving licence.
Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.
Shift work, when required by the needs of the Organization.
Exposure to lead.

Exposure to risk of falling from heights during scaffolding assembly and dismantling operations.
Exposure to electromagnetic fields under certain exposure conditions.
Given the occupational health risks associated with this position, the selected candidate must obtain medical clearance before a contract offer is confirmed.
