InTent Internship Programme (#IIP) 2026: Paid Summer Internship for Bachelor’s and Master’s Students in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Nanotechnology (3 months)
Marly, Switzerland | Posted on 13/04/2026
Join a paid summer internship where you will contribute to the development of a climate solution with real industrial relevance. Through the InTent Internship Programme (#IIP), you will support lab-to-industry scale-up research and pilot testing focused on improving carbon capture through advanced membrane materials.
About the hosting organisation
SEPARATIC is a Swiss start‑up developing carbon capture technology for more efficient industrial decarbonisation. Its work focuses on advanced porous graphene membranes designed to separate CO₂ from gas streams with lower energy demand and smaller footprint than conventional carbon capture approaches.
The Position
You will support the project Design and Testing of Pre-Industrial Membrane Prototypes for Efficient Carbon Capture. The role focuses on experimental work, membrane testing, sample preparation, data analysis, and technical documentation. You will contribute to a core R&D workstream aimed at improving membrane performance and supporting preparation for pilot-scale validation.
What You Will Work On
Support experimental work on the development and optimisation of porous graphene membranes for gas separation including carbon capture and hydrogen recovery
Assist with laboratory testing of membrane performance, including CO₂ permeance and selectivity
Help prepare and characterise membrane samples using standard laboratory techniques and analytical tools
Collect, organise, and analyse experimental data
Contribute to technical documentation, internal reports, and research summaries
Assist with preparation for pilot-scale validation and technology demonstrations
Support researchers and engineers working on scalable CO₂ capture solutions
Conduct literature reviews on carbon capture technologies, membrane materials, and related innovations
Help design a pilot project with an industrial customer
What You Bring
You are a Bachelor’s or Master’s student with a background in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, nanotechnology, or a related field. You have basic laboratory experience, are comfortable working with experimental data, and are interested in climate technologies and applied research.
Who You Are
Comfortable working in a laboratory and following research protocols carefully
Able to collect, organise, and analyse experimental data
Detail‑oriented, reliable, and motivated
Able to work independently and as part of a research team
Strong written and spoken English, other languages are asset
Swiss or EU Passport holder, valid work permit, or the right to work in Switzerland.
What You Will Gain
Hands‑on experience in advanced materials research for climate technology
Exposure to membrane development, gas separation testing, and R&D workflows
Stronger skills in experimental design, lab work, technical analysis and data interpretation
Insight into how lab‑stage innovation moves towards industrial pilot‑scale validation
Experience contributing to applied research in industrial decarbonisation
Additional Information
This is a paid internship offered through the InTent Internship Programme (#IIP)
The internship is expected to start between 15 June and 15 July 2026 and will run for 3 months
Selected interns may also become part of the broader programme journey, including the virtual kick‑off on 16 July 2026 and the SEED Impact Summit on 24 September 2026
