Director of Hospitals Job Description As the Director of Hospitals, you contribute to the definition and development of the objectives of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) in health policy, ensuring its sustainability in a constantly evolving context. You pilot the cantonal system in the hospital sector, addressing the needs for hospital services, public subsidies for hospitals and clinics, including the Vaud University Hospital Center (CHUV), investments and construction projects, and negotiate within this framework with stakeholders in the socio-health sector and federal, cantonal, and municipal authorities. In your position, you propose developments for the X system, manage complex political dossiers for the DGS, participate in the handling of parliamentary matters, and support the department in your area of expertise. Responsibilities include contributing to the definition and development of the DGS in health policy, representing and championing the DGS's vision in public health while considering the political and social responsibilities of this position, respecting individuals' values and rights, actively contributing to parliamentary matters or any other related initiatives, creating a vision and goals for the entity in relation to the DGS, and setting priorities and action plans for the objectives. You will design and implement the cantonal hospital policy while considering cantonal constraints, assess needs for hospital services and general interest projects (PIG), define the necessary offer for identified needs, and support institutions facing demographic challenges. You will pilot and supervise the cantonal hospital system, comprising over 10 institutions including the CHUV, and monitor the management of hospitals. You will manage human and financial resources: defining processes, job descriptions, and work rules for your entity; recruiting, advising, supporting, and motivating your teams; and coordinating support commissions established by the DGS for hospitals facing specific challenges.
