The Assistant Bar Manager leads a multicultural team and oversees shipboard beverage operations across all bars, lounges, outlets, and crew bar areas to ensure the highest levels of guest satisfaction and revenue.
Supports the Bar Manager in maintaining standards related to service, product quality, and sanitation.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Assists the Bar Manager in ensuring compliance with quality and sanitation standards across all bars, lounges, and crew bars;
* Supervises daily beverage operations in all guest and crew bars assigned by the Bar Manager;
* Helps generate maximum sales and profits through creative work procedures;
* Controls daily work of the bar service crew in assigned areas;
* Ensures all bars are fully stocked to par levels at all times;
* Prevents unreasonable waiting times for guests in any bar or related area;
* Supports the Bar Manager in cost control through close inventory monitoring;
* Supervises daily self-inspection checks to ensure sanitation and safety standards are met in bars, pantries, machinery, and storerooms.
Requirements:
* Fluent in English (oral and written); additional European languages (Italian, Portuguese, German, Spanish, French) are advantageous;
* At least 2 years of shipboard experience as an Assistant Bar Manager or land-based experience managing multiple bar locations servicing large crowds;
* Sound knowledge of bar techniques and cocktail preparation;
* Computer literacy; familiarity with Fidelio, Micros, and MMS is a plus;
* Good management and organizational skills;
* Passion for hospitality and customer service;
* Revenue-oriented mindset;
* Knowledge of accounting and cost control procedures.
VISA AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
* Valid passport with a minimum of 12 months validity and, if possible, a seaman's book copy;
* STCW95 certification (basic firefighting, personal survival techniques, elementary first aid, personal security, and social responsibility);
* Recognized medical certification prior to starting work onboard.
