TotalEnergies has developed a strong expertise in oil and biofuels, natural gas, and electricity trading. Trading entities are based in Geneva, Paris, Houston, and Singapore.
TotalEnergies installed its European trading hub in Geneva, bringing together large teams around trading activities: TotalEnergies Trading & Shipping (T&S) and TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP).
T&S handles physical trading and shipping of crude oil, refined products, including biofuels, and participates actively across the supply chain and derivatives markets to manage risk.
We are seeking a Senior Business Developer – Structured Trade Finance to join our New Ventures team in Geneva. This team develops trading flows (physical and derivatives) to grow our business, involving sourcing, structuring, evaluating, and executing new deals, and building relationships with banking and non-banking counterparts.
This role interfaces with trading, management, and external financial stakeholders, including CFOs, banks, insurance companies, funds, etc.
Activities
* Analyze new opportunities and report to the team leader.
* Originate and structure financing transactions with liquidity providers to support credit risk management.
* Build and maintain relationships with banking and non-banking counterparts, including credit funds, hedge funds, private equity, and insurance.
* Propose transaction structures to optimize opportunities.
* Develop financial models for valuation and debt capacity assessments.
* Assist in due diligence processes.
* Prepare information packages for internal and external presentations.
* Promote innovative financing structures to secure trading flows.
* Develop strategic relationships with new counterparties.
* Coordinate transaction execution and communicate with relevant functions.
* Monitor and report on ongoing transactions.
* Propose new business ideas aligned with team strategy.
* Build and maintain a professional network to enhance the team’s global reach.
Candidate Profile
* Master’s degree in Trading, Finance, Economics, or equivalent.
* Minimum 10 years of experience in commodities, banking, or financial services, with an existing sector network.
* Strong origination and structuring skills, proactive problem-solving, logical thinking.
* Strategic and commercial mindset with attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
* Influential, with strong persuasion skills to advance projects.
* Good prioritization skills in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
* Entrepreneurial spirit, ambition, analytical and interpersonal skills, quick learner in a fast-paced environment.
