Oil Trading Market Risk Analyst – Relocate and be Dubai (DIFC) based – CHF 150k Basic TAX FREE
Location: Dubai (DIFC). Likely based currently in London, Geneva, Singapore or Houston and required to relocate to Dubai.
Company: Asset backed energy trading arm of NOC (National Oil & Gas Major) – HQ/sole office based in DIFC in Dubai.
Key experience: 5+ years working as Market Risk Analyst in an Oil Major, large commodity trader or NOC with a developed supply and trading function.
* Must have experience in a major global trading hub (London, Singapore, Geneva, Houston, etc.) and not a service centre.
* Strong Oil Trading knowledge and experience is essential.
* Ability to work in a fast moving, early stage trading organisation, supporting growth whilst ensuring control and risk management objectives are met.
* Strong communication skills to convey complex data and analysis to traders and senior management.
* Fluency in English is essential.
You will be joining an Oil Trading business which has traded for 2 years and has recently moved from back‑to‑back trading to hedged/risk‑based trading. They are expanding rapidly and planning new offices/trading desks in Singapore and Geneva.
Reporting into the Head of Risk, the successful Oil Trading Market Risk Analyst will be responsible for the delivery of the trading business’ market risk management framework, including modelling and monitoring of price exposures and the associated financial risks.
* Own the trading business’ market risk management framework, ensuring the risk to the P&L from changing market prices is robustly measured and reported, and monitored against limits and action trigger levels.
* Operate and enhance a Value‑at‑Risk framework for the trading business, establishing methodology, calibration, calculation and reporting, and conducting regular back‑testing and validation.
* Supplement the VaR framework with portfolio stress and scenario tests, agreeing key parameters with management and the Audit & Risk Committee, and communicating results.
* Work closely with product control to agree valuation methodologies for all authorised markets, products and trading instruments.
* Support the growth of the business through controlled onboarding of new contracts, markets and trading instruments.
* Support the Treasury team through development of liquidity risk management tools (e.g., cash margin at risk) and other cleared trading monitoring activities.
* Support the Head of Risk & Credit and Credit Analyst with measurement of counterparty credit risk, including expected and unexpected loss information for realised and unrealised transactions under price‑based stresses and walk‑forward analysis.
Key Skills & Experience:
* 5+ years working directly on an oil trading floor as a Market Risk Analyst for an Oil Major, large commodity trader or NOC.
* Strong Oil Trading knowledge and experience.
* Experience in a major oil trading business with a well‑developed supply and trading function.
* Ability to work in a fast‑moving, early‑stage trading organisation while maintaining control and risk management standards.
* Excellent communication of complex data and analysis to traders and senior management.
* Fluency in English.
