Employees in this classification report to the housekeeping supervisor. This is a routine manual labor position associated with the daily cleaning and floor care of the school buildings. Typical routine duties include, but are not restricted to dust mopping, wet mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, horizontal and vertical dusting, cleaning classrooms, cleaning offices, cleaning instructional spaces, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, cleaning glass, polishing furniture, the care and upkeep of floor surfaces etc. Provide after-hours support, as approved in each building. /p h3ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES /h3 ul liPolice public areas. /li liFrequent dust and wet mopping, buffing, scrubbing and recoating of hard surface floors, carpet shampooing, etc. /li liScrub and clean restroom walls, floors, fixtures, partitions and restock with supplies as needed. /li liDust, clean and polish all furniture. /li liDust and clean all walls, doors, windows and ledges, woodwork, countertops, water fountains, stairs, etc. /li liEstablish and maintain inter-departmental relations with personnel, maintenance faculty. /li liHelp in the evaluation and assist in the selection of new cleaning products, materials and equipment. /li liReport all accidents to Supervisor. /li liMay be required to fill in for absentee personnel. /li liMaintain all storage areas in a neat and orderly fashion for easy rotation of supplies and equipment. /li liVent, blackboard, whiteboard and radiator cleaning. /li liBe aware of any and all upcoming meetings, sports events, dances, school fairs etc. and help to prepare custodial support for such functions. /li liBe responsible and/or assist security of the building during scheduled shift. /li liNotify manager of equipment and facilities needing repair or replacement. /li liMust be courteous and able to deal effectively with staff, students, and the public. /li /ul h3QUALIFICATIONS /h3 pTo successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary. /p ul liHigh School diploma or equivalent. /li liKnowledge of district-wide standards for cleaning methods, equipment, materials and supplies. /li liKnowledge of the operations and maintenance of all mechanical cleaning equipment used in the district, perform PM duties on equipment. /li liAbility to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength. /li liSelf-starter and able to work as a team member, also able to work with minimum supervision and have a neat / clean appearance. /li liAbility to establish and maintain a working relationship with the supervisor, fellow workers, staff and students. /li liAbility to follow simple verbal and written instruction as relates to the job. /li liSubmission of PA School Personnel Health form. /li liCurrent Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances. /li liThe person, while performing in this position, will be required to: /li liUse hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to talk and hear; /li liStand, walks, and occasionally is required to sit, stoop, kneel and crouch; /li liHave specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus; /liliHave the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; /li /ul pThis position description does not express or imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the incumbent in this position.
