The Associate Director, Project Lead (m/f/d) is leading the technical project team to achieve project goals and milestones and is responsible for the development of the Basis of design and subsequently execute it until end of OQ. Role also acts as the SME of the design phase of the project, working with MSAT and Operations. Overall, the role supports the development of a project plan and schedule technical activities and works with the project controls team to manage the project budget and costs by helping to evaluate and mitigate project risks.
Key responsibilities:
1. Support the selection of Design Engineering strategy and partner selection including the development of a design deliverables list.
2. Responsible for the management of the Construction and Engineering Team from Detail Design till handover to Operations.
3. Ensure that Lonza technical standards are effectively communicated and understood through the development of a project technical standard.
4. Support the development of the project plan, including scheduling of all technical activities such as equipment design, installation, commissioning, and qualification.
5. Support the identification, evaluation, and mitigation of risks throughout the project lifecycle.
6. Support the management of the project budget and control costs to ensure that the project stays within its financial constraints.
7. Ensure that all technical aspects of the project meet regulatory requirements, including Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and other industry standards.
8. Effectively communicate project status, risks, and issues to the project team, stakeholders, and senior management.
9. Manage change requests and assess the impact of proposed changes on the project schedule, budget, and technical scope.
10. Ensure that all technical deliverables are completed.
Key requirements:
1. 10+ years in project engineering and project management for chemical, biochemical, pharmaceutical industries with international experience.
2. Broad technical knowledge of the Various Engineering Disciplines in the Pharmaceutical environment.
3. Task orientated person who is very comfortable working towards set objectives and has a track record of achieving results in this regard.
4. Proven experience in cost control and scheduling related to investment projects.
5. Experience in engineering aspects of facility design to build a compliant but cost-effective plant.
6. Knowledge of modern CQV approaches to minimize the time from construction completion to routine production while maintaining compliance.
7. Excellent knowledge of computer systems (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).
8. Good understanding of how the CDMO industry/business works.
9. Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
10. Strong verbal and written communication skills (English and German).
11. Effective influencing skills. Ability to communicate to varying levels and functions of the organization.
12. Proven ability to lead, mentor and coach direct reports and teams with or without direct line responsibility.
