General Responsibilities
Duties involve maintaining building and grounds of the District's facilities in a desirable manner consistent with District's plans. Display a neat and organized appearance and work in a professional manner. Assignments are stable in nature and are carried out in accordance with specific instructions and existing precedents, practices, and procedures. Work involves physical effort and exposure to the elements and potential hazards.
Essential Functions and Duties
* Measure, paint, and maintain athletic fields and prepare them for sporting events
* Mow lawns, mulch, trim, prune and cut trees and shrubs, and all aspects of ground maintenance
* Assist with snow removal
* Perform preventive maintenance on all district vehicles
* Participate in job specific and safety training
* Operate on and off road District vehicles
* Perform basic repair and maintenance to grounds vehicles and equipment
* Execute Integrated Pest Management requirements in District facilities and grounds
* Produce required reports and correspondence
* Perform basic custodial duties as needed
* Order supplies based on inventory standards in the established budget and through item purchasing criteria as needed
* Crosscheck incoming supplies and equipment against purchase order for accuracy
* Track purchase orders; initiate action to correct deficiencies in items received
* Receive, inspect, store, rotate, and select requisitioned items and handle daily supply/banking support
* Load, transport, unload, and deliver supplies and equipment
* Provide assistance to other Buildings and Grounds positions as needed

* Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, lean, handle, finger, feel, talk, hear, see, push, pull, and lift and carry up to 80 pounds with assistance
* Some knowledge of manual laboring principles and practices
* Ability to work on various size ladders, scaffolding and powered man-lifts
* Some knowledge of custodial principles and practices
* Some knowledge of light automotive equipment operation principles and practices
* Some knowledge of automotive and laboring hazards and related safety precautionsAbility to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work and in working relations with associates, district staff, and vendors
* Skill in using light automotive equipment with and without basic attachments
* Demonstrated ability to perform basic computerized record keeping and correspondence
* Willingness to attend training
* Willingness to work overtime as needed
* Ability to understand and follow routine instructions and take direction
* Ability to read and write
* Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
* Ability to supervise and to effectively work with subordinates
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with associates, district staff, vendors and general public
Minimum Qualifications
* Education and Training: High School Diploma or GED Equivalency
* Experience: Minimum of three years of experience as Grounds Maintenance 1; or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience
* Required Certification/Licenses: Possession of a valid PA driver's license
* Travel Requirements: Districtwide

Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the applicable policies of the Elizabethtown Area School District
