Our client, a global market leader in the production and process support of active pharmaceutical ingredients, both in the chemical and biotechnology sectors, is looking for a Senior Cost Estimator for a 12-month contract (with high possibility for extension) based in the Valais area, Switzerland.
This is an on-site and full-time role.
Overview Senior Cost Estimator for a 12-month contract (with high possibility for extension) based in the Valais area, Switzerland.
Responsibilities As a member of the Global Estimating team you will be responsible for overseeing the development of project estimates from ideation through to detailed design where values can range from 10m to Develop the estimate plan and coordinate estimate development with the project team
Prepare high-level cost estimates based on ideation level information for potential new projects in conjunction with wider Global Engineering team.
Work with external vendors to produce detailed feasibility, concept and detailed design level estimates. Analyze estimates to understand variances and scope gaps.
Work with internal project leads to prepare final project proposals for Board approval.
Maintain and continue to develop the internal benchmarking database to assist with providing cost assurance on estimates.
Ensure correct Cost Breakdown Structure coding is utilized for budgets when transitioning from approved budget to Procurement Management Plan.
Participate in Project Team and Functional Team meetings and workshops as requested.
Respond to ad hoc requests for data, data analysis, and presentation materials.
Provide assistance to other team members as and when required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required
10+ years of experience in cost control / estimating for large (> 20 Mio CHF) projects. Preferable to also have experience being part of a team cost controlling on large scale projects.
Excellent command of English
Strong analytical skills. Ability to conduct analysis of complex/large data sets, draw conclusions accordingly, and prepare and support decisions.
Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Able to deal with ambiguity - can conform to shifting priorities, and demands.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast paced environment.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Familiarity with project management software in the area of cost controlling and Excel.
