Role Overview
Practical Law, part of Thomson Reuters, is looking for an experienced corporate lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) to serve as a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Germany. The role involves creating, maintaining, and editing practical legal content, and supporting the development of AI‑powered legal solutions.
Responsibilities
* Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs.
* Review and edit content written by colleagues or external contributors.
* Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.
* Support the development of customer‑focused Thomson Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions and internal AI editorial tools.
* Develop and maintain an excellent understanding of the legal market, our customers and their emerging needs, and competitors.
* Interact effectively with customers, consultation boards and contributors; work with all parts of the business to deliver insight into business strategies, other products, sales, marketing and technology development.
* Attend training events, conferences and talks and network with customers, potential customers and industry leaders.
* Help develop Practical Law Germany and, more generally, Practical Law.
* Assist the wider Thomson Reuters team by working with product management, sales, marketing and technology functions where necessary.
Qualifications
* Qualified lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) in Germany, with at least 5 years post‑qualification experience in corporate law (private mergers & acquisitions, corporate governance).
* Excellent writing and communication skills in English; fluent in written and spoken English is essential.
* Collaborative mindset, ability to work independently and in teams.
* Strong technical skills and ability to use generative AI technologies to enhance productivity and accuracy.
* Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space and other emerging technologies.
* Curious mindset regarding the intersection of AI and legal practice; adaptable and open to change.
* Experience using AI tools in legal work.
* Excellent knowledge of online research databases.
* Comfortable working with ambiguity and in a matrixed environment; proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with diverse teams.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Proficient translation skills for legal documentation from German to English and vice versa.
Education / Certification Required
* Must be qualified to practice law in Germany.
