Our client is an international school based in the canton of Valais looking to recruit a Business & Financial controller.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will independently and autonomously lead the management control function and support the financial management of the school. You will work closely with the Accounting department and all department heads to ensure efficient resource utilization and support the board and management strategic decision-making.
You will ensure financial transparency, data reliability, and economic performance in a bilingual and multicultural educational environment.
Budget Planning and Monitoring
Participate in elaborating the annual budget with management and department heads
Monitor monthly budget execution and analyze variances between forecasts and actuals.
Oversee cost tracking related to educational programs, extracurricular activities, infrastructure maintenance, and payroll
Identify optimization levers and propose corrective actions
Management Control and Reporting
Implement and update performance dashboards (financial indicators, student/teacher ratios, cost per student, class occupancy rates, etc.)
Prepare quarterly reports for management and the board of directors
Update the group’s consolidated budget to provide the board with a long‑term view and facilitate decision‑making
Conduct profitability analyses for investment projects (buildings, equipment, partnerships, new programs)
Contribute to the preparation of financial and institutional audits
Financial Management and Swiss Compliance
Collaborate with external fiduciaries and auditors to maintain accounting records in accordance with Swiss standards
Ensure compliance with cantonal and federal requirements (VAT, taxation, subsidies, tuition fee invoicing)
Participate in cash flow management, payment tracking, and administrative cost control
Systems and Processes
Improve management and reporting tools (advanced Excel, ERP, Power BI, etc.)
Ensure consistency between general and analytical accounting
Train administrative and teaching staff on budgetary processes
Requirements
With a higher education degree in economics and business management (HES, HEG, HEC), a Federal diploma in accounting or Finance & Controlling, or equivalent, you have several years of successful professional experience in finance and accounting (ideally in a Big 4 firm).
Excellent command of Excel and management/ERP tools.
Strong knowledge of Swiss accounting standards and local tax framework.
Ability to produce clear and well‑supported financial analysis.

Fluent in French and English.
