MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Completing a relevant apprenticeship program is required (Red Seal Certification).
• Proof of experience in trade of more than 10 years.
• Valid Code 08 Driver’s Licence.
• Must complete a mandatory competency assessment.
EXPERIENCE
• Five years of proven experience as a Boilermaker.
DUTIES
• Constructing structural components from raw materials.
• Using raw material to manufacture a component to be used in a mechanical system.
• Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, gearboxes, chain drives and the alignment thereof. Mechanical fitting experience will be advantageous.
• Understand welding work.
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and processes; e.g.: GTAW, SMAW, GMAW and gas welding and brazing.
• Read Manufacturing Drawings.
• Obtain drawings from the Supervisor.
• Read the measurements to plan the layout and procedure.
• Must be able to interpret P&ID symbols from the drawings.
• Ensure that all jobs are executed according to the drawings provided and in a timeous manner and of excellent quality.
• Assist with Planning, Scheduling & Monitoring of Work.
• Ensure that all jobs are planned accurately and to specifications.
• Ensure that all jobs are scheduled timeously.
• Ensure that all mechanical equipment is in working order to perform the functions required.
• Determine appropriate equipment or method based on requirements.
• Support-related manufacturing requirements.
• Provide individual opinions on how to increase the quality of products that are being manufactured.
• Using welding equipment.
• Cutting of materials with powered saws to match measurements.
• Operate angle grinders to prepare parts to be welded.
• Align components using callipers, rulers, etc. and clamping pieces of material.
• Welding components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
• Inspect fabricated components to ensure that they meet the highest standard.
• Ensure that the quality of the work is of the highest standard by the use of precision and measuring equipment to check for tolerances.
• Replacing damaged or defective structural components.
• Assess damaged components and manufacture and replace them where needed.
• Have a good understanding of the use of precision measuring equipment.
• Dial Test Indicator, Micrometer, Vernier, Inside and Outside Calipers, Feeler Gauges.
• Assist with Administration Responsibilities.
• Perform good housekeeping.
• Adhere to Health and Safety.
