As a Senior Specialist - LightSpray Commercialization Engineer, you will play a key role in bringing On's innovative footwear concepts to life. Working closely with senior team members, you will support the commercialization of new products and technologies, helping to translate visionary ideas into high-performance, manufacturable products. Your mission
* You will play a crucial role in the lifecycle of multiple footwear projects, providing essential support from the initial product confirmation phase through final production. Under the guidance of a Lead Engineer, you will contribute to bringing innovative footwear designs to market.
* Your expertise will be vital in assisting with the end-to-end commercialization process, applying knowledge of manufacturing processes, material properties, and tooling principles.
* Develop a strong root-cause analysis mindset to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in tooling, molding, assembly, and fit evaluation, ensuring high product quality.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to maintain product intent and design integrity while meeting commercial and operational requirements and timelines.
* Engineer products with a focus on efficient manufacturability, optimizing designs and processes to ensure high-quality output and performance, and reducing bottlenecks.
* Document technical issues, provide detailed reports, and support the creation of manufacturing guidelines for the product development and production chain.
* Collaborate with computational designers on upper patterns and tooling construction adjustments to improve fit and durability and support scalable manufacturing. Responsible for full size run grading, technical manufacturing operation manuals, initial production trials, ERP system updates, and scalability sign-off.
* Own the documentation of complex tooling and upper-related issues and communicate correction actions to stakeholders for manufacturing guidelines.
Your story
* 4-6 years of experience in the footwear industry, focusing on advanced product development, innovation, engineering, or manufacturing
* Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Material Science, or a related technical field
* Familiarity with 2D and 3D design software is a plus
* Proven ability to lead scaling of new technologies and assess commercial viability and factory readiness
* Knowledge of advanced footwear manufacturing processes, including robotics, automation, tooling, molding, injecting, welding, lasting, and assembly; understanding factory capabilities, tolerances, and limitations to engineer for scalable replication
* Technical curiosity, proactive problem-solving, and good communication and collaboration skills
* Desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced, innovative environment
* Ability to travel up to 15-20% of the time
