The FEI is looking for a Junior Legal Counsel with 100% rate of activity. The position is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, and is available as of 1 September 2025 or upon agreement.
Junior Legal Counsel
Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, the Junior Legal Counsel (Disciplinary Matters) role is to provide support for the prosecution of disciplinary cases, such as equine anti-doping, horse abuse as well as any other type of cases decided by the FEI Legal Department (Administrative Disciplinary Proceedings), the FEI Tribunal and / or the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Key Responsibilities
* Assisting in the investigation, management and prosecution of medication / doping cases, horse abuse cases and other disciplinary cases before the FEI Tribunal and Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS);
* Represent the FEI before the Tribunal in legal proceedings, including hearings, arbitrations, and appeals;
* Draft written submissions for legal proceedings;
* Review and act upon reports of rule violations, abuse and misconduct submitted via FEI reporting channels and / or FEI Officials and Departments;
* Investigate and collect intelligence in relation to equine welfare and open disciplinary proceedings in horse abuse cases when necessary;
* Administration of processes and policies related to anti-doping, equine welfare and disciplinary matters;
* Review reports with respect to offences committed during events and follow up in cases of violations, such as Administrative Disciplinary Proceedings, Official Warnings, or Yellow Warning Cards;
* Contribute to the establishment of internal procedures and policies;
* Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to FEI rules and regulations including policies and processes;
* Attend FEI Tribunal annual meeting;
* Provide general support and advice to all FEI Departments;
* Answer legal queries from FEI Stakeholders.
Position Requirements
* Qualified lawyer with relevant professional qualifications in the legal field; postgraduate qualifications in sports law are a strong asset.
* A minimum of 1 to 3 years' experience in sports law or a comparable legal environment, with international exposure.
* Experience in the field of equestrian sports is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office and software to support planning, documentation, and tracking processes.
* Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
